Trial and Parole Support
For law enforcement survivors, the trial of the cop-killer is a tremendous emotional strain. Support volunteers will attend the trial with the family, offering comfort and the experience of having gone through the trial process themselves. Volunteers know about the rights of survivors during legal proceedings, and support the surviving families who wish to make a victim impact statement.
Upcoming Parole Hearings
The National Office of C.O.P.S. will also initiate a letter-writing campaign from law enforcement survivors when a cop-killer is being considered for parole.
At least a month prior to the parole hearing, a survivor should contact the National Office and provide details so a letter opposing parole can be sent on behalf of the entire C.O.P.S.' membership.
